How to install a television wall bracket

Where to begin

There are many variations of television wall brackets. There are ceiling and wall mounted brackets and brackets that swivel and swing. The most important thing to consider when choosing is making sure the weight capacity is capable of safely supporting your television. If you have a heavy television it is preferable to hang on a brick wall.

Preperation

Position yourself where you are most likely to be sitting when watching TV. If you have paster walls you options may be limited as they bracket has to be hung on the timber stud. Be aware of the position of lights and doors as they may impede on your vision.

Mounting on a brick wall

Position the wall bracket on the wall an mark out the mounting holes. Use a spirit level to make sure the bracket is straight. Next drill the mouting walls with a masonry drill bit and then insert the nylon anchor plugs in the mounting holes. Secure the wall bracket by screwing the coach screws into the wall with a spanner.

Mounting on a gyprock wall/timber stud

The only difference when mounting a television bracket on a gyprock wall and masonry wall is that the hole must be drilled into the centre of the timber stud. The paster itself cannot hold the weight of TV and its bracket. To identify the studs you can use a stud finder or tap the wall gently to locate the studs. Drill the mounting holes in the centre point of the timber stud when secure the wall bracket by screwing the coach screws into the wall with a spanner. Now attach the remaining structure to the wall bracket and follow the instructions provided.
